Summer Poem, from 2007

Lying weary in my bed
I consort my pad and pen
And lie awake – so damned awake
while troubled thoughts still fill my head –

Within my dreams I do embrace
The feeling of your smiling face
Yet when awakened in the night
My weary soul strains in its might –

My one regret is that I said
The things to you that fill my head
For in my haste did this soul waste
The beauty of our sacred space –

And damned the consequence of this
For what you bring gives calming bliss
Yet weakened, I will close my eyes
And silently say my goodbyes -
