SGY

Saved myself for something grand
saved my soul for smoother land -
yet instead unleavened bread
was shoveled in my mouth instead -

Grains so coarse they scrape my tongue
prevent my song from being sung
and pain within my burning chest
burns hot as hell as I digest

Yet finer wheat comes in its time
and level roads paved smooth and fine
await us all who persevere
and walk forgetting grief and tears
