Two from One

The discourse of a shattered place
is of a broken heart
two lovers once consumed with love
who seemed to never part -
Then suddenly some travesty
committed them to doubt -
so peaceful caring discourse
began the end to start -

And smirking, it is clear to me
how this thought has come -
for suddenly its clear to see
Our nation's two, from one -
And like a broken love affair
we too must make amends
to lean to love our enemies
- to make our foes our friends
